Job Description

The Responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician.

1. The pharmacy technician plays a pivotal role in the inventory management process- helps to reconcile the quantity and check expiry dates from the point of supply from the warehouse.

2. Assist the pharmacists by labeling drugs and communication of clearly written instructions to patients

3. Management of minor ailments and referring patients to the pharmacist for more in-depth medical questions related to prescriptions

4. Dispensing of drugs upon customer medication refill.

5. Pharmacy technicians are responsible for ensuring the proper storage of all medications and performing regular checks to make sure storage requirements are maintained

6. Determining potential drug interactions by routine checking for drug interactions when dispensing.

7. Assists in point of care services such as PCV, blood glucose test, blood pressure CHECKS

8. Ensure the floor and glass windows of the Pharmacy are clean at all times

9. Ensure all products that are out of stock must be immediately recorded in the out of stock book

10. Ensure all products requested for by customers but unavailable should be entered into the customer enquiry book

11. Ensure all customer complaints are well documented and passed on to the supervisor or Pharmacist as soon as possible

12. Engage with all customers in a friendly and cordial manner

13. Drive the process of collecting data of customers who visit the pharmacy

14. Support the design and execution of health awareness campaigns and outreaches that would help drive the business of the Pharmacy

15. Ensure that controlled drugs and poisons register of the Pharmacy are properly kept

16. Drive the medication use review process and ensure the all records are properly kept

17. Ensure all patients are properly counseled and all medications leaving the pharmacy are properly labeled.

18. Ensure proper documentation and resolution of all issues regarding customer returns inward

19. Ensure stock outs are reduced to the barest minimum and drive the process of replenishing stock as soon as possible

20. Ensure timely resolution of all customer complaints

21. Assist the full time Pharmacist to ensure all wrongly procured stock are promptly returned to the source of purchase at the soonest possible time.

22. Assist the full time Pharmacist in competitive scanning of the environment by keeping a tab on the activities of competing businesses with a view to staying ahead of competition

23. Assist the full time pharmacist in the process of periodic stock taking and resolving all discrepancies arising thereof.

24. Drive the customer management process to ensure all customers are satisfied

25. Supervise the timely opening and closing of the pharmacy

26. Assist the full time Pharmacist to ensure improved welfare and team building within all staff of the pharmacy

27. Assist the full time Pharmacist to ensure the proper scheduling of the duty rosters to ensure smooth operations of the pharmacy at all times
